Ripe For Revival Mobile Farmer’s Market fund raiser Sun, May 4

We have a Ripe for Revival Mobile Farmers Market fund raiser set for this Sunday, May 4th.  The bus will be here at First Christian Church and open for business at 12:00 p.m.

In case you are not familiar with Ripe For Revival, the Mobile Market Program takes the mission of Ripe For Revival on the road by utilizing large buses and trailers that have been transformed into pay-what-you-can retail markets.  The Mobile Markets provide access to fresh and local food to areas that are considered “food deserts” while placing a strong focus on health and nutrition education, economic development, and empowerment of communities across North Carolina.

The bus comes here each Wednesday from 10:30 to Noon and serves between 30 and 60 people each week.  The pay-what-you-can label means that each item, (typically vegetables like squash, collards, cabbage, potatoes, tomatoes, etc. and meat like bacon, sausage, or hamburger, and dairy products from Simply Natural Creamery) can be purchased for the recommended price, or even a little more if you like.  Or, a person can pay less than the recommended amount or pay nothing at all.  No questions asked.  On Wednesdays, the R4R bus is open to all comers.

However!  On Sunday, May 4th the bus will be in the parking lot of First Christian Church after worship to serve those of us who would like to purchase our Sunday supper from the bus, knowing that we are getting groceries we need while simultaneously contributing to this fantastic non-profit that serves our community and others in 10 counties across North Carolina.

I hope to see you here this Sunday!
